Back in the 1970's (before there was much conservation and recycling), my dad (Richard Crowder) used to pull his and Mom's car over the ditch in the front yard when it was time for an oil change. Dad would carefully drive the car over the ditch, climb under the car, and take out the drain plug. The oil would drain right into the ditch (no muss, no fuss). He would climb back under there and re-attach the oil pan bolt. On one occassion, he slipped while getting back under the c ar, and ended up taking a bath in the oil. When he came to the back door after this, we hardly recognized him. His clothes were ruined, and it took him 6 baths to scrub all of the dirty oil off of him! Can you imagine what would happen if someone tried that today? I can just see the Haz Mat truck pulling up now!!!
